Up A Road Slowly, by Irene Hunt (Book Review)
“One never stops climbing, Julie, unless he wants to stop and vegetate. There’s always something just ahead.”
When seven year old Julie’s mother dies, she and her older brother go to live with her aunt, Cordelia. Living in the country at first doesn’t seem appealing to Julie, but as she gets older, she turns to love living with her aunt. When her brother moves away, her father gets remarried, and her and her friends grow older and mature, Julie starts making bigger decisions. Learning the lessons of family, life, and love…
"Beautiful hours move so quickly."
Up A Road Slowly is a story full of experiences and lessons to be learned. It’s a coming-of-age romantic novel, about Julie's life from her childhood, into her teen years. It reminded be a lot of if you combined L. M. Montgomery's writing mixed with Louisa May Alcott's. It's very much of a heart warming, feel good novel, that could make you smile and cry.
Although this book had many things I enjoyed in it, I found some things almost dull you could say. The story was very sweet, but I think I found I personally enjoy a bit more suspense. I also think it was a bit shallow. It wasn't very detailed to my liking.
But, that all being said - This story was very romantic and sweet, I could see all this happening in real life. I really like books like that because it shows people that trials and hardships can in fact be over come.

"Love is not always found in the grand gestures, but in the small moments of kindness."
This book was a romance, and it had some kissing, but it wasn't very detailed or in-depth in that since, so I would recommend it for ages 11-12 and up. I personally would rate it a 7 out of 10!
Great Review! I read this book and really enjoyed it!
