The Hobbit, by J R R Tolkien (Book Review)

The Hobbit is a unique story about a Hobbit names Bilbo, who is just your regular Hobbit, who goes on a journey to help Thorin Oakenshield and his clan get back their family treasure, which is being guarded by the Dragon, Smaug in the Mountain. There is very many trials and enemy’s along the way including Goblins, Spiders, sometimes Elves, and even Gollum himself.

The Hobbit is a really interesting and impactful tale, there are a few things that I found really interesting about this book— its really interesting to see Bilbos character develop, it really shows how easily we can build our character if we just fill our lives with what’s true, and Bilbo knew what was true and he didn't let his life change when opticals were thrown at him. It was really beautiful to see how the dwarves and Bilbo form a relationship over the journey, and it really pays off in the end. And it shows how friendship is so important. There aren’t really anything inappropriate or scary, but there are obviously mythical creatures. I would rate this book for 11+ or 6-7th graders. I really enjoyed this book, I would probably give it a 9 out of 10, I would have given it a 10 if it wasn’t as slow.
