The Hunger Games (Book Review)
In the ruins of a place once known as North America is the nation of Panem, a Capitol full of vanity, surrounded by twelve broken-down districts. The Capitol is cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to compete in the yearly Hunger Games, a fight to the death on TV. Sixteen year old, Katniss Everdeen takes the place of her sister in the games, her fellow district 12 tribute, Peeta Mellark, were now as good as dead. But Katniss has been close to dead before, she just has to put aside her own feelings and the feelings of others, if she has any chance in winning...
“Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor!”
The Hunger Games was such an amazing book! I read the book in two days and wasn't able to put it down. Suzanne Collins write in such a way that makes you feel like you are in Panem, and the movie displays that very well. There is every different aspect in Collins writing, action, romance, adventure, it was such a thriller. My favorite characters were Haymitch, Peeta and Effie, so keep an eye out for them, and i just loved the storyline from relationships to were they live. There we literally times were I laughed out loud reading because of these characters!
This book not only showed what living in an oppressed government could be like, but the beauty of love and loyalty.
I would recommend this book and movie for teen+ because of it being heavier topics of death and torture scenes. As well as the kissing and flirts.
I would rate this book a 9 out of 10!
