Messenger, by Lois Lowry (Book Review)

Messenger follows the growing up of Matt, now Matty, who now lives in Village with Kira's father, or Seer. Matty is now a young man, and is experiencing love, strength, and his "power", just like Kira and the Leader have always. But then unexpectedly, Village has to close. Matty is sent into Forest to find Kira to bring her to her father, before Forest's new found Evil over takes them...

Messenger is a very amazing third book to the series. In Gathering Blue book review that is did, I said that it doesn't really follow along with The Giver well, but boy was I wrong! Messenger has so many different things that I picked up that you have to keep in ear out for. If you pay attention, you will notice things in that are also in The Giver, and in the next book...!
This book kind of reminds me of the Bible verse, John 15:13 "There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for another." This book is truly that. You see Good and Evil portrayed so well, and even though it clearly not factual, is almost reminds me of Good and Evil in our lives. Matty is very interesting character to watch. He is young, ignorant and small minded, but he is also young, helpful, and full of love. He does so many things in this book for others around him. I don't want to give away anymore, I just want you to read it! I would recommend this book for 12-13 yo to adult, and I would give it an 7 out of 10!
