The Shadow Throne, by Jennifer Nielsen (Book 3 of the Ascendance Series Review)

“Villains and plots and enemies are simple things to me. But friendships are complicated, and love is harder still.”

War rages. A country in fear. But more importantly, Imogen is captured. Jaron knows it’s a trap, and will put his country at risk, but he can’t help knowing Imogen is in danger, and not do something about it. But when the circumstances only seem to grow worse, Jaron must put aside his own personal feelings and worries, for any chance at winning…

Love is a powerful thing, Jaron. In the end, love will help win you this war.”

I must give full credit to my bestie that shared this series with me. I was the one who started reading Jennifer Nielsen’s stand alone novels, but you’re the one who shared this crazy amazing series to me. Its one that is going to be impossible to forget! Thanks so much.
This book…my goodness. This series has been…so unbelievably unpredictable. As I’ve said before, some of Jennifer Nielsen’s stand alone’s were a little predictable at times, but the Ascendance series has been such a breeze.
While this book was very good, I still find that my favorite was the first. It was just so satisfying, while this book was more of the bow that tied everything together. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I just liked the first the best.
I can’t really say much more without giving the series away! As always—Jaron’s sass and personality was on point is this book, and he learns a lot throughout the books. His character is one I’ve never really seen in any other book, and that just gives a nod to the creativity the author had.
I’d recommend this book for ages 12+ and I’d rate it a 8-10!

I can’t remember a moment sense we met that I haven’t been in love with you.”
