A Swiftly Tilting Planet, by Madeleine L’Engle (Book Review)
It’s Thanksgiving day. Meg Murry is now in her twenties and expecting her first baby. Her husband, Calvin O’Kleefe, is over seas on a conference and won’t be joining her and the family. While Meg tries to keep it together enough to enjoy Thanksgiving with everyone, Mrs. O’Kleefe, Meg’s mother-in-law, strangely except their invitation to join their gathering, which she has never done before. Meg starts to wonder why she decided to come today, when Mr. Murry gets a call from the president it becomes clearer.
Fifteen year old Charles Wallace, Meg’s youngest brother, seems to know what’s going on as well as Mrs. O’Kleefe, and might be the answer in possibly stopping bad things from happening to earth, the swiftly tilting planet…
“In this fateful hour,
I place all Heaven with its power,
And the sun with its brightness,
And the snow with its whiteness,
And the fire with all the strength it hath,
And the lightning with its rapid wrath,
And the winds with their swiftness along their path,
And the sea with its deepness,
And the rocks with their steepness,
And the earth with its starkness:
All these I place,
By God's almighty help and grace
Between myself and the powers of darkness!”

A Swiftly Tilting Planet is book three in A Wrinkle In Time Quintet. It was very interesting and I honestly didn’t know what was going to happen! It was definitely not predictable. L’Engle really put an interesting story together!
It was cool with all the time traveling in it, to see so many different storylines connect. The author tied in—yet again—so many different genres into one book: Fantasy, romance, time travel, future, dystopian, space, and science.
I liked this one a bit better than the second book, A Wind In The Door, but I still think A Winkle In Time was a bit better. Mostly because it was more dystopian more than fantasy, which I enjoy more. But, that being said, this book was very interesting and a real page turner!
I would recommend this book for 12-13+ and would rate it a 8 out of 10!
