The Scourge, by Jennifer Neilsen (Book Review)
“When we are apart for too long, everything starts looking sideways, as if the world has shifted. It hasn’t, of course, but then I realize that I’m the one walking crooked. You balance me, Ani.”
“You be careful. I've stayed out of trouble for two weeks. You don't seem able to avoid it for two minutes."
I laughed. "I can easily avoid it for two minutes. It's the third minute that always seems to challenge me.”

Oh my, *squeals real quick* talk about a beautiful, sweet, fasted pasted, touching, lovable book! The Scourge is one of the sweetest romances I’ve read, and it’s also just a really unique story. There was a couple things really stuck out to me in this book, and the first being the storyline actually. The author, which is—yet again—Jennifer Nielsen, was able to fit a lot of development into just one novel. As I’ve said before with her stand alone books, Jennifer Nielsen seems to only be able to get one angle across in her stories. Unlike some authors that are able to pack there books full of different angles. That being said, The Scourge pleasantly surprised me! There were quite a few different angles in this book, and it really was very good.
Second, the one thing that I didn’t necessarily like, was that I found some parts of this book a little predictable… *tries to not spoil anything* but I did find myself enjoying it more the more I read.
Third, the romance in this book is very likely one of my new favorite love stories, and it has my new favorite fictional couple in it. I can’t really say too much without spoiling it, but it’s just really sweet and tangible. It has so much development. I’d definitely recommend this book!
I’d recommend this book for 12-13 year olds to adult, and I’d rate it a 8-10, only because I really just wished it was longer, and for the reasons I said above :)
