Sense & Sensibility (Book Review)

“If a book is written well, I always find it too short.”

The Dashwood’s father has died. Elinor, Marianne, their younger sister, and their mother are now very poor and homeless. The family moves to the country, and the only hope for the two young women is a decent marriage. Marianne falls in love much too fast. While sensible Elinor learns that the man she loves is already going to be married. Will the sisters be able to find happiness in the strict social life of England?

Sense & Sensibility is an excellent story of romance brought out in the early eighteenth-century England. Jane Austen brings out amazing characters in her books, and paints them into a beautiful story. Her characters show all the different people in the world, from good to bad, happy to sad, and sense to sensibility! And she teaches us lessons about each of them. My favorite character was Elinor, because of all the different lessons she taught me.
Sense & Sensibility is such a good classic, I would recommend it very highly for 11-12 yo and up, and I would rate it an 8 out of 10!
