Son, by Lois Lowry (Book Review)

At the age of 14 she has her very first, and last, Newchild, only to not be able to see him, for what her community hopes, ever again. Claire can't spot trying to find her beloved child, Gabe, as the one Nurturer calls him. For a community with no color or emotions, she seems to not be able to forget her love for her baby. She volunteers to help at the Nurturing center to see him, and even when her baby is taken by some boy three years younger than her, to a different community, she crosses an ocean to find him. Years pass and Claire is a young woman and risks her life to find and love her very own child, and her very own child risks his life to find her, while a powerful Evil is trying to separate them forever...

Son is the very last book to The Giver Quartet, and is broken up into three sections so that you can get out of this book the most you can. Son is my favorite book out of the series. I don't really know how to type a summary for it, it's just truly impactful! If you are going to read The Giver, you have to read the other books to the series. By the end of this book, everything ties together! From Jonas and his family in The Giver, to Kira in Gathering Blue and Messenger, you will be truly amazed. Even though somethings in this book are wrong and different from the world we live in, it's a really cool story. I don't want to say to much, because it would spoil that whole story if I said one thing to many, but this book reminds me of our lives in a way. There is Good and there is Evil, the goodness in this book reminds me of the light Jesus spreads, and the character that is Evil reminds me of the Devil and how literally in this book they say that he comes to people to hurt, kill and ruin lives. It resembles Heaven and Hell in a way. This book has so many different things going on you feel obligated to turn the page and continue onto the next chapter. It show motherly love, love in and of its self, and what lives would be like if lies ruled over us, and how the characters choose to love instead. I would recommend this book for 12-13 yo to adult and I would say it is 9 out of 10 or even a 10 out of 10! I really enjoyed reading this book and I am sad to have to say "bye-bye" to The Giver Quartet :)
